This print of driftwood is an experimentation using the lithograph process. Lithography is based on the delicate balance between oil and water. First, an image is drawn on the stone’s surface with a greasy substance. Then, the plate is chemically treated to make the image areas receptive to ink and the non-image areas receptive to water. The process involves wetting the plate, inking it, and then using a press to transfer the ink from the image areas to paper.
